The Bees Academy is a coaching initiative designed specifically for children in school years upto and including year 7 to encourage their participation in sport and to develop their athletic potential to the best of their ability. Coaching sessions are held each Monday and Wednesday from 6.00pm to 7.00pm and also Saturday mornings from 9.00am to 10.00am at Norman Park Athletics Track, during school term times (check dates here ).

We have three schemes running in the Bees Academy, namely:

• On Track - Track & Field. This scheme covers running, jumping and throwing in various forms and through different approaches.
  
• Off Track - Endurance. Since the Spring 2010 term we have introduced a new scheme that caters for the youngsters who wish to do endurance-type running, e.g. cross country.
  
• Mini Bees. This is a new scheme introduced to cater for young children in the 5 to 8 years old age range.

Coaches involved in the scheme are licensed by UK Athletics at varying levels and covering various disciplines. In addition all coaches undertake a Criminal Records Bureau check at an enhanced level which is designed to encompass persons involved with children.

The Bees Academy acts as a feeder to the very successful Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC, although youngsters are free to join other clubs of their choice.
